When I keep coming up with ideas for these shows, and the more questions I get, the more I think about it. I love to teach strategies, and you know that. I teach you some good stuff here, but at the same time, I realized that there is so much more. This show is about those of you that are looking to create something more.

You don’t want a mediocre life. You don’t want the same old thing or the same old life you’ve always had. You don’t want to be the person that works a job or has a business and struggles in your business for years. To work hard to then have a lot of lost years? You don’t want that. You want something more. You work hard and you’re a good person, and you want more out of your life. You don’t want to have what everybody else has. You want to have more, be more, and do more. That’s why you’re reading this and that’s why I’m teaching you now.

When it comes to having more and being more and doing more, things have to be different. You’ve got to do something completely different than whatever else is doing. You’ve got to be thinking differently than what everybody else is thinking. I wish I could dissect every little aspect and that’s where I have to keep reminding myself in these shows that sometimes I skip over some necessary details.

MORI 193 | Watch Your Words
Watch Your Words: Life is stinking hard. And it may not have anything to do with money, business or job. It could be other stuff like the emotions that you’re dealing with.

This show is no exception. This episode is particularly about how we watch our thoughts and our words. What are the words we speak? If you think about the New Testament in the book of John, it says, “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God.” Even in Genesis, it talks about how God spoke and said, “Let there be light.” He talked about dividing the light from the darkness and he called the waters and things like that. He spoke things into existence.

You have that very same creator capability. You may not know how to create planets, universes, and things like that, and that’s fine. We’re in the infantile stage of learning that stuff, but one of the coolest things in life is that you can’t control a whole lot, but you can control time, money, and to some degree, although it’s not perfect, your thoughts. You can control the words you use, especially the words you say to yourself.

What are those words you say to yourself that nobody else hears? Maybe you’re saying, “I’m fine,” to everybody else, but maybe you’re not in real life. Maybe you’re silently suffering. You’re saying, “On the outside, my life looks great, but I am suffering inside. My life is stinking hard.” It may not have anything to do with money, business, or a job in your life. It may have everything to do with relationships, and health, or could be other stuff. It could be the emotions that you’re dealing with.

I’m looking over my 2018 goals and I don’t have much in the way of finances. I still have financial goals, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the focus. For me, the focus is more on relationships and on building and refining myself, and working on my emotional and social state with my family and my wife, and things like that. We all have our own different goals, but the biggest change I’ve seen in my own life is how I speak. What do I speak to myself in the deep recesses of my own brain? How do I speak with others? What are my conversations like? Are they edifying and uplifting or tearing everything else down?

I’ve been in conversations before where I can tell that it feels like negative energy. Have you ever been in a conversation or participate in some, and maybe it’s talking about politics or other people? Usually, it’s about people is what I’ve noticed, but it could be talking about life in general or things that drag you down and you feel almost depressed and drained. Those are conversations you need to start avoiding. This could mean that you might need to turn off the news for good. Maybe watch the weather and that’s about it, and even that could depress you. I don’t know, but you’ve got to watch what’s going on in your mind and what words are going through your head.

You have the power to make everything better. Your financial situation, relationships, health, and everything else could be better. And it starts with your mind. Click To Tweet

If you’re saying that you’re abundant all the time, I’m going to call bull crap because no human being on this planet is abundant 100% of the time. Even me, I’m not. I’ve done a lot of work in this area. A lot more work than most, even me, I’m going to run into stuff. The difference though is that I quickly catch it. I’m becoming more aware of when it happens. There are a lot of times when I have blind spots too. There are times that my wife will have to point out stuff and call me on my crap and I love it. I love her for that because that does help improve my life and make everything better.

As my thoughts have elevated improved so have my financial situation, my relationships, my health, and everything improved. It starts with your mind. A great quick easy book I would recommend reading and you might think it’s Think and Grow Rich, that’s a great one too, but it’s not that one. It’s As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. You can read it seriously on a lunch break. It’s that quick and short of a book. A wonderful material in that book.

The thing I realized is that it does come down to our thoughts. Our thoughts create. We are creators based on the words that we use. We can either create very destructive things in our life or create amazingly abundant and prosperous things too. Monitor your thoughts. What are you thinking about when you’re alone? How much your thoughts are centered around fear, doubt, worry, being impatient, being overconfident, or being ignorant?

I like to watch reality TV shows quite a bit and I love TV, just so you know. I’m not the type of person that reads books all day long and stuff. I do like books, but I also love TV too. One of the reality TV series I watched was Master Chef. If you’ve never ever seen it, it’s great. There are lots of great shows there, but I love watching people in competition and what helps people rise to the top. It’s probably scary if we could hear everybody’s thoughts, but you can tell what comes out of people’s mouths. You can tell when someone’s about to become defeated or when they’re to be gone or eliminated from a challenge or something like that.

I was watching Master Chef and there’s this guy that is toxic, but he’s also highly driven. He’s driven and toxic, which can be a bad combination sometimes, but it also has gotten them so far in life. He made it pretty far in the competition. He almost emotionally broke down on several occasions, but I remember one time that he looked like he was about to give up and was going to lose, and then somebody who was one of his fiercest competitors said, “Remember why you’re here.” She brought up his family, his newborn baby, why he’s at that challenge, what he’s working so hard for, and what they’re at home sacrificing for, so he could be there in that competition.

As a Man Thinketh

He’s like, “You’re right. I deserve to give him the best.” That fire was lit up again. That’s what got him lit up. He was like, “I’m going to do this. I’ve got to do this,” and all of a sudden, he didn’t get eliminated. It was a close call for him. It wasn’t like he was the best cook in that situation, but I’m telling you his emotions and everything could have destroyed him. It happens to all of us too.

If there are certain negative thoughts that keep reoccurring, it might be much deeper than trying to think your way out of it, you might need some extra help. We’re going to go a little woo-woo on you here, but this might be where you find good people that do stuff with energy work and things that remove emotional blocks.

There are things that are passed down through our DNA over generations. People are still scared of the dark because generations ago it was in our DNA to be scared of the dark. It’s because in the dark bad things happened. That’s when a lot of the crimes happened. Technically, that still happens. There’s a reason why people fear the dark because it’s in their DNA. Don’t you think you’ve got emotions stuck in the DNA that isn’t even yours? Don’t you think you’ve got crap that you’ve been passing on, whether it’s been learned or inherited through your own body that you’ve got? Things are like DNA memory like you have muscle memory and you probably have some of those too.

There are things that might be holding you back. That’s some of the work I’ve done the last year that has been fantastic. Call me crazy, but I don’t give a crappy thing if I’m crazy or not. If it works, it works. Take that. Deal with it. There are many things to do, but start working on your thoughts. There are things you can reassess.

For example, I was going through some of my worst times. You might’ve read this in other episodes, but there were times when I was absolutely depressed. This was in 2009. I thought, “I’m done being depressed. I’m done complaining, moaning, and whining about it. I’m going to do something different.” I started finding one positive thing and focusing on the positive a little bit more, but that’s not enough. You can do positive and that’s good, but that can’t be it. There’s got to be more to it.

Every day is a conscious decision to get closer to your goal. Click To Tweet

I started doing other things. I started understanding, “I wholeheartedly expect that things are going to get out of this.” I start trusting in principles. I started trusting that with every challenge or difficulty you have, there’s a seed of an equal or greater opportunity as Napoleon Hill says in Think and Grow Rich. I thought, “I’m looking forward to that. If this sucks so bad, I can imagine how good it’s going to be.”

I know you’ve already gone through this in your own life. If you’ve looked back, you have probably seen the patterns here. For myself, when I become a victim of circumstance, I said, “That was awesome. That was so good. I’m so glad I lost over $1 million. I’m so glad I went through that horrible and painful divorce. I’m so glad I went through a year where I was sick and taking an aspirin or ibuprofen every single day.” Those kinds of things were great for me because those were the things that got me to overcome. Whenever I have a challenge I know, “Cool, I love challenges. This is what makes me who I am right now. This was going to make me better in the future too.”

There’s always something better. I had to reverse it. Do you want to go through those collector calls? I called them I love you calls. As I said, “My friends have started to abandon me. I might as well start to appreciate the phone calls I am getting,” which are from creditors daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I would answer like they’re a long-lost friend. I was like, “How’s it going?” “Good. This call will be recorded for quality control purposes. This is for the purpose of collecting on a debt.” They get through that little disclaimer, and then they start chatting away. They’re like, “We need you to pay us.” “Great. I can’t pay you, but I will.” “When?” “No clue, but I will. Thanks for calling me. Can you call again next week?” “Yes. We’ll keep calling.” “Good. Thanks. Talk to you later.” They’re all good friends.

I had to reverse a lot of things. I had to change my thoughts about that. I had to realize that things were going to be better and things will look up. Things are different than what they are or will be different than what they are currently. There’s always more to do. There are ways that you can do it, but watch what words you’re saying to yourself. Are your thoughts and words going down the toilet? Do you have defeated language?

I mentioned overconfidence. I’ve seen that happen time and time again, where people come overconfident or ignorant. Sometimes they’re so overconfident that they become ignorant. Sometimes people can think of themselves as too knowledgeable. They think they might be too smart and to the point where they end up being complete idiots. We’ve got to be careful of what’s going on. We’ve got to be careful about emotions that are tied to those thoughts. It’s not just thoughts or words.

Watch Your Words: When you start to have strong faith, you start to realize that you don’t have to be attached to everything. You just have to focus on your goals and vision.

Remember when I said those are I love you calls? It wasn’t saying, “I’m going to call them I love you calls. I hope this works.” No. I might as well make the best of this. I knew that I was going to get out of the rut that I was in. I didn’t know when and how, but I knew there would be a way and doors would open up. I can attest to you that that is the truth and that does happen, but you’ve got to also manage the emotions with it. How can you choose faith instead of fear? How can you choose patience instead of impatience?

Relax, chill, and take it easy. Stop worrying and fretting all the time, and say, “Let’s get my bearings about me, and let’s be okay with the process.” Be okay that things are going to happen in exactly the right way at exactly the right time. When you start to have that faith, you start to realize like you don’t have to be attached to everything. That’s why for New Year’s goals, I’m not so gung-ho about trying to set certain timeframes. I set goals. I set a vision for what I want and all I set is the next step. “What’s going to get me closer to that vision?” Every day is a conscious decision to get closer to that point.

If I want to rock hard abs and an amazing body, it’s got to start with right now, “What’s the next step I can take? It’s not going to be, “It’s going to be like this, this, and this.” No, I don’t know what it’s going to look like at that time. I might find something completely different that works and is amazing to help me get there, but for right now, I’m going to make sure I’m eating the right foods and doing the right exercise. I could go do an amazing ab challenge, but there might be certain parts of my health I need to fix more than that to help me get to that point.

By the way, it’s worked great for my physical body and stuff like that. I’m by no means like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson or anything like that. I’m not even close, but I’m much better than I used to be and I’m stronger than I was in my 20s, and I’m in my 40s now. All this starts with your thoughts and the emotions around those thoughts. Change your thoughts, manage your emotions, and new results can start occurring. As much as you have the same thoughts and the same emotion that keep popping up, you’ll see the same patterns and the same results in the same hole, and you wonder if you’ll ever get out of it.

If you’ve ever felt like that, you know it’s going to take new thoughts, new emotions, new managing of those emotions, and then there are new results. Listen to the words of people like myself and others that you might respect, people that you want to become like. I’m not saying I’m the one you need to become like, but people you might idolize. Read autobiographies, listen to podcasts, read good books, do all these kinds of things, to find out what it is those people did and how they thought.

One of the biggest reasons I was able to get out of the rut that I was in is that I realized, “I can’t look at what people were doing. I want to get to know what they’re thinking. Who are they being? What do they have to go through? What were their thoughts? What made them who they are? What thoughts got them to where they were?” That has been the true secret of success.

When I read books about people, I don’t read about, “What did they do? What was the magic bullet? What’s a great business idea they had?” That doesn’t matter. Who were they? What thoughts did they have that led them to have those experiences that led to that great idea or great opportunity? That right there is the secret. That’s my challenge for you this week is to manage your thoughts and emotions. Watch those words and create something new. It’s possible, it can and will happen. Make it a wonderful, prosperous week. We’ll see you.
