I’m appreciative of all you guys who have been joining us here lately. I love the growth of the show. You guys are a big part of that. I want to welcome here with us, Terri Levine.

I’ve been on her email list for a little while. I can’t even remember how we got our email list. Maybe some of you guys are like that with me. I don’t know. It’s one of those things where you know you’re following somebody because probably somebody said, “This is awesome. Check them out.” I had. I had the great privilege of meeting her at Secret Knock with Greg Reid and Sharon Lechter out there. I adore her. I told her the first morning I met her when she said, “How’s Secret Knock been for you?” I said, “My whole goal was to meet you. That’s cool. I’m good.”

I probably could have stayed in my hotel and chill or something or gone to the beach. It was great. Some of the things that she’s got here today are incredible. There’s the Heartrepreneur stuff that she’s got going on as a coach and a consultant. She’s been featured and interviewed all over the place. I would love to welcome on Terri. How are you doing?

I’m doing awesome. I’m always happy to be with you, Chris. It’s a joy to be here.

Tell us a little bit more about your story. How did you get to be where you are today?

It’s been quite a journey. I was a speech language pathologist originally in my career. I ended up building a successful business and selling it. I was an art consultant. I grew a successful business and sold it. I started a rehabilitation clinic, and I’ve sold that. I started another company and then I tried Corporate America for five years, yuck. Twenty years ago, I walked out of Corporate America. I started my own coaching and consulting business. I’ve been an author, a speaker, a trainer, a coach, and consultant happily for the last twenty years. I’m where I’m at doing what I love and loving what I do.

Why did you go that route? You’ve done all kinds of things, but what inspired you to go this route, to start consulting other entrepreneurs?

As I was building all of my businesses, what was happening over the decade is every time, one would be successful and I would sell it, people would come to me and they’d say, “Help me in my business. What would you do if you were me?” Friends and family, all kinds of business owners. I was freely helping everyone grow their businesses. Over and over again, people were expanding their businesses. One day I thought, “What am I doing? I should be doing this for a living and charging.” I’m happy doing it.

It’s nice when it happens organically like that. I’ve had the same experience a little over ten years ago where people said, “How are you doing what you’re doing?” It’s a difference between wanting to do something and be passionate it to then another about being called to do something, especially when people are calling you out to come out and do stuff.

I feel blessed and honored that people raised their hands and chose me to be the one that they wanted to do this work. That’s how I feel it. They chose me to do it. I’m getting to do what I love so much. I’m feeling blessed.

One of the biggest reasons why we have you on the show here, there are many things you could teach. The discussions we’ve had, we know we can do multiple shows with the topics that we’ve covered already in our personal conversations. I know one that I’ve never had on the show before, because it is a trending topic and it’s one that’s up and coming, but it’s about Facebook Live. You’re starting to see more and more people use Facebook Live. I’ve noticed at least with most people, they don’t know how to use it. Tell us more about that. You’ve been making approximately $1,000 a day using Facebook Live and you’re not even selling. Is that correct?

That’s correct. I’ll be transparent about it. One day, all of a sudden, I was looking at my iPad and I saw that little live button. I’d never heard of Facebook Live. I didn’t know it was something that was coming out. I thought, “Let me play with this.” I have no idea what’s going live, “3, 2, 1, I’m live.” I’ve been live not having any idea of an agenda to talk about. I just put it out there. The next thing I knew is there were like 600 people who watched it and I didn’t talk about anything that’s significant. I thought, “I’m onto something.” That’s how I discovered it. Now I have a whole strategy around it.

Any business should use Facebook Live. Click To Tweet

Tell us more about that. First off, who should be using Facebook Live?

Coaches, consultants, speakers, trainers, authors. I even have realtors using it, mortgage brokers. I work with a lot of chiropractors and dentists, they’re using it. I work with some retail stores, they’re using it. I want to say, I believe any business should use it. I even coach large companies. Some of the largest companies that I’m working with that are Fortune 100 companies, I have them experimenting with it and taking people behind the scenes. I can’t say the name of the company, but showing how some famous games are made and have the game boards come to be. People love to watch.

I know you mentioned chiropractors and dentists. I have several that follow me here because I worked with tons as well. Especially chiropractors, dentists even more so, but chiropractors, they want to do health classes, but they’re always trying to do live classes where people come in. Are you saying that people could even do a point and click camera phone on themselves for a matter of minutes, and then they’re able to get the same kind of results they would have spent hours in the middle of the night doing?

A million percent. I’m making about $1,000 a day doing a 30-minute Facebook Live, Monday through Friday. I’ll be happy to give you my little formula. I don’t sell anything. It’s pretty darn good.

Let’s hear it. I’d love to hear more about that. How are you able to do Facebook Live in a way that you’re not selling, but people are still coming to you? How does that happen? What’s your formula?

The first thing I do is I figure out looking at my Facebook insights on my business page. What time of day most people in my insights are on Facebook? I want to get the biggest audience. First, you plan to be on when your audience is on. The second thing that I want people to do as part of the formula is let people know in advance that you’re going on. “I’m going to be on Facebook Live today at whatever it might be, noon Eastern.” Give them notice. The third thing is make sure that you tell them what you’re going to be doing. Don’t just say, “I’m going to be on.” It could be eating a peanut butter sandwich. Nobody wants to see that.

Ask yourself, “What are some of the problems my target audience has? What are the goals they want to achieve?” and then get on and make sure that you’re going to do some stuff. I may say, “Today, I’m going to talk about how to get more eyeballs on your Facebook Live because I know it’s a challenge for people. How do you get leads without spending money on Facebook ads?” It’s what you’re going to talk about. Next, this is important, you go on every day for 30 minutes. Here’s why. It gives Facebook time to get people into your feed. It gives people time to see you who are scrolling. People come on at different times. After experimentation, it’s the secret cost, 30 minutes, and then ask people to contribute comments and reactions. That’s particularly common.

Don’t act like you’re talking to nobody. Look into the camera, talk to one person. I may say, “I’m talking to you. Here’s how we’re going to work on your financial mastery. I’m talking to you. I want you to do the following actions. By the way, comment right now. Tell me what you heard. Comment right now. Tell me what you’re learning.” Constantly, what you’re doing is you’re asking people to engage. This is going to be the real secret. Save the video. Post it on your Facebook page two more times that day. Let’s say I went on at 12:00, I’ll go on and take my saved Facebook Live, and I’ll put it on again at 5:00 and 9:00 for example, because I want more people to see it.

MORI 124 | Facebook Live
Facebook Live: Let people know in advance that you’re going on Live, and make sure that you tell them what you’re going to be doing.

Everybody who has made a comment I can right click. I can see who they are, even if they don’t follow me. I can send them a personal private message, direct message on Facebook, and say something like this, “I saw you tuned in for my Facebook Live today on how to use Facebook Live. I’d be happy to give you some more help and assistance. Here’s my calendar link. I’d be happy to chat with you. Just so you know, I will not offer you to buy anything and will not sell you one thing. I’m creating some value for you if you’re interested.” Are you wondering where the sales come from like, “How do you sell?

I would love to know.

A number of those people will take me up on a phone call. I do exactly what I say I’m going to do. I create value. I give my ideas, my consulting, my best knowledge, my best information, and never ever do I say at the end, “Do you want me to tell you how I work? Do you want to hire me? Here are my products. Here are my services.” This happened an hour ago, at the end of the call, the person said to me, “I am curious, what is it like to work with you? What does that look like?” I said, “If you want to know, I’ll tell you.” I tell them. What’s happened is people gone on to buy on their own because they raised their hand. They were clearly a hot prospect. We got to know each other and we got engaged.

You let them invite you in rather than the other way round.

Whether it’s a live networking situation or I’ve done phone calls with people, I’ve had several people when I ask a question or chatting, and I was trying to get to know them, but after a while they say, “I’m curious about what your services are. I might be interested in using you.” “That’s cool too. I want to get to know you, but I can do that as well.” The key is where you say you offer significant value to them as when you are talking to them. It’s value selling. It’s giving so much value to the point where they say, “I want more.”

I like that, value selling. I call it reverse marketing. I love value selling.

You raised your hand. You self-soared in. You say, “I’m interested.” We talk. If you like the value, I love that. If you’d like the value that I’ve provided, you might want to ask me how to buy my products or services or how to hire me to be your consultant. If you don’t ask me, that’s cool too. I won’t ever tell you. Maybe we’ll stay connected as friends. Maybe you’ll refer somebody. Maybe we’ll part as friends. I have no attachment to the outcome.

This is incredible stuff.

I love teaching this, Chris. I love sharing it.

When you go on Live, give value and content. Give the audience a way to connect with you and get insight into you and your business. Don't try to just reel them in with clickbait. Click To Tweet

There are tons of great stuff. 1) Check your insights to find out when people are online. 2) Promote it earlier in the day that when you’re doing it so it gives some people some heads. 3) Teach it, but teach on something that they’ve been asking.

You’ve got the formula exactly.

Stay on 30 minutes. That one, I would never have guessed, the stay on 30 minutes. My shows, I don’t like to go much over 20 minutes. On my mind, in the way you said it, and even with asking people to comment and ask questions, it reminds me of doing a webinar, but in a slightly different twist to it.

It is because in a webinar, at least you can get an engagement. On Facebook, if people watch mine, Facebook.com/heartrepreneur, what they’ll see is me constantly asking for engagement like, “What do you guys think of this? This is what I do. Does anybody do anything else? Guys, I need you to comment. Comment right now. That’s your turn. Are you liking this? Give me some likes. Give me some love.” Constantly tell them what to do. That’s how you get your engagement. That’s how you know who’s getting interested.

I told you that webinars too. That’s good. The engagement is huge. I’ve noticed the more engagement there is, the more people want to follow you and they become raving fans. That is important nowadays than ever because there are many people I’ve noticed. Even this month where we’re recording right now, there have been many people I’ve seen pitching their stuff like crazy, and there’s throwing out there, but there’s not a relationship being created. It’s a bunch of billboards is what it is when you look across people’s stuff or their Facebook. It’s not a lot of value. It’s a lot of stuff, a lot of pitching. It’s refreshing to be able to say, “Here’s the value, check it out.” It’s a natural way for people to want to engage with you and want to hire you.

I say to everyone, please, put out content. Real content in marketing, not this baked stuff that everybody does that I’m going to try and reel you in with my bait. No, stop trying to beta. Instead, give us value, content, the real deal, and the way to make a connection with you and get insight into you and your business. Don’t try to reel us in with clickbait. It’s the authentic heartrepreneur way to market. What else can I say?

When you say heartrepreneur, what do you mean by heartrepreneur?

I coined the term and I trademarked it. Heartrepreneur is my company brand now. It’s how to do business heart-to-heart authentically, transparently, consciously with your prospects, customers, employees, and vendors. Heart-to-heart communication. Sharing heart-to-heart. Face-to-face instead of clicking from place-to-place.

It’s that real heart-to-heart connection.

Turbocharge Your Business

It makes all the difference.

I know there are many of our readers right now that are like, “That’s me.” In fact, I know the last time I have people that follow me that a lot of times they would be in this category, but they have a difficult time selling to because they feel like they don’t only want to serve people. They want to help. They’re hard things asking you for money. They love what they do. They know they’re passionate about it. They want to help people, but they’re like, “It’s a gift that I have. I want to make sure that that gift is helping the right people.” I’m like, “You do.” The thing is that money that you make allows you to serve so many more people too.

That’s what it’s all about, is how do we serve more people? How do we help more people? How do we share value? If we keep our eye focused on the right ball is what makes sense. It truly makes sense.

Amen to that. Terri, tell our readers, if they want to engage with you further or they want to follow you or check out your stuff, what would you recommend? How would they get ahold of you or follow you?

I recommend that they download a chapter of my bestselling book, Turbocharge: How to Transform Your Business as a Heart-Repreneur. They can do that on my website, which is Heartrepreneur.com. You can download a free chapter, and put that stuff to work for you right away. It will make a difference.

Everybody, go out and do that. Be sure to check that out, get that free download. I follow her as well. She’s incredible. If you could already tell, that’s amazing. $1,000 a day on Facebook. You’ve not just done this for a couple of days. Somebody might say, “I’ve done $1,000 a day for the three days in a row.” This has been months now that you’ve done this. I’m impressed. Amazing. That’s awesome. Thank you so much for creating the value for us today, Terri.

Thanks for having me, Chris. It’s a joy to be with you.

Everybody else, thank you for joining us today. Be sure to join us each and every week. Share us, like us on Facebook. Subscribe to our stuff on iTunes if you haven’t done so. I love you so much, guys. Go and make it a wonderful and prosperous week. We’ll talk to you soon.
